The Witch’s Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Indoor Magical Herbal Plants & Gardening
This guide has 3 parts. The first part is the magical and medicinal correspondence for all the seeds in the organic heirloom seed kit. The medicinal aspects are sparse, created by me – someone who is NOT a registered herbalist or medical professional, so verify all information and consult with a healthcare professional before using or growing any plant or herb.

✨ Step-By-Step Planting Ritual ✨
1. Prepare Your Sacred Space 🕯️🌿
Clean your pots gently with water. Imagine you’re cleansing away old energies to invite new growth.
Lay out your materials on a clean surface bathed in natural light or candlelight if you want extra ritual magic.
Take a deep breath, ground yourself, and set an intention for your herbs — healing, clarity, abundance, or protection.
2. Create the Perfect Bed for Roots 🌍
Break apart the coconut coir brick into loose, fluffy soil using clean hands or a small trowel.
Mix in a handful of the natural white pebbles and some clear quartz chips at the bottom of each pot for drainage and energy clearing — your roots will thank you! 🌬️💧💎
3. Fill Your Pots 🪴
Fill each pot about 3/4 full with the coco coir soil mix.
Lightly press down the soil so it’s firm but not compacted — roots love breathing room!
4. Plant the Seeds 🌱
Sprinkle seeds according to their size and growing habits:
Tiny seeds like Thyme, Caraway, Marjoram — plant very shallow, just 1/8 inch deep.
Medium seeds like Anise, Fennel, Hyssop — about 1/4 inch deep.
Larger seeds like Borage, Echinacea, Chicory — about 1/2 inch deep.
Cover seeds gently with a thin layer of soil. Whisper your intention to them for growth and vitality! 🌬️✨
5. Watering Ritual 💧
Mist the soil gently with a spray bottle or use a watering can with a fine spout. Keep soil moist but not soggy — overwatering is a common mistake!
Place the pots on their tray to catch excess water.
6. Find Your Plants a Cozy Spot ☀️🌙
Most herbslovebright, indirect sunlight. A south or east-facing windowsill is usually perfect.
If natural light is limited, consider a gentle grow light for 6–8 hours a day.
Keep your herbs away from drafts and extreme temperature changes — they prefer cozy stability.
Gently talk to your plants or sing them a tune — they respond to energy and attention! 🎶
Every 1–2 weeks, bless your quartz chips and pebbles by holding them under moonlight or smudging them with sage. This keeps their healing energy active. 🌝✨
As your plants grow, pinch off the tops of Italian Basil, Lemon Balm, and Thyme to encourage bushier growth and more herbs for your spells and teas! ✂️🌿
8. Harvesting Your Magic 🌿🔮
Harvest herbs in the morning after the dew has dried but before the sun gets too hot — this preserves their essential oils and magical potency.
Use sharp scissors or garden shears to avoid harming the plant.
Dry or use fresh for your herbal remedies, teas, incense, or spellwork.
Use this super handy chart for taking the best care of your plants:
